DDA AS1428.1 Compliant Bathrooms

DDA AS1428.1 bathrooms are designed for ambulant and wheelchair users in public sanitary spaces (showers and toilets). Avail DDA grab rails, shower seats and toilet backrests have been independently tested and approved to all AS1428.1 requirements. This AS1428.1 compliant range has been carefully designed and selected by Avail qualified Product Design Engineers and have been independently assessed and verified as conforming to National Construction Code NCC 2025 and AS1428.1-2021 requirements for buildings classed 2, 3 and 5-10 including public toilets and showers. Avail have also ensured our AS1428.1 compliant DDA range also comply with international ISO 21542 Building Access requirements. For residential and Assisted Living units AS1428.1 is not a requirement and the products should be selected based on the personal needs of the user. 


Accessible toilets require specific grab rails beside and behind the toilet, an 800mm pan with backrest and tapware handle and spout within 300mm reach of the front of the basin. The basin requires clearance underneath to allow for a wheelchair user or seated users knees. Products named 'Accessible' suit accessible toilets, showers and basins. Products named 'Ambulant' suit Ambulant toilet cubicles.
