Description

The Calibre Mecca grab rail range combines commercial compliance with style to create a range focused on both commercial and residential builds
Compliant to all AS1428.1 Accessible Toilet requirements
Ambulant toilet rails are also available

  • Meets the AS1428.1-2021 grab rail requirements for section 12.2.7 beside Accessible Toilets as shown in Figure 42, See install instructions for AS1428.1 Position Requirements
  • Product conformance and test reports as per NCC requirements are available on request
  • AS1428.1-2021 compliant for grab rail requirements including section 14:
    - 30-40mm grab rail diameter for the full length of the rail
    - 5mm minimum radius on all exposed corners and edges
    - 150kg (1470N) capacity at any position and direction
    - 50-60mm distance from wall and brackets maintained for full length of rail
    - Clearance for hand passage is continuous for the full length of each rail, continuous passage is only required for the top 270 degree arc of horizontal and angled sections and the full 360 degree of vertical sections, not at the change in directions, this is consistent with all international standards including ISO 21542 Building Accessibility
    - Grab rail has passage of the hand for the full 270 degree of horizontal and angled sections and 360 degree passage for vertical sections of the rail as per AS1428.1 requirements
    - Ends of rails are enclosed inside wall brackets to remove potential hazard and to maintain 50-60mm distance from wall for full length of rail.

Install Advice

Installation Instruction:

1. Unscrew the 3 mounting brackets from the two grab bars and support ring using an Allen key.

2. Locate wall studs, install into at least one stud.
Place wall seal/mounting bracket on wall at correct height over centre of stud and mark hole positions on wall. (minimum 2 supplied screws per bracket).
Tip: Rail height is 790mm above the ground.

3. Drill pilot holes into wall stud approximately 60mm deep to suit mounting screws (and expansion plug if required).
Tip:3mm hole for screw into timber or 8mm hole for expansion plug

4. Apply small amount of silicon to mounting brackets and wall in and around the screw holes.

5. Insert the expansion plugs into the drilled holes using a hammer. Secure the three brackets firmly with expansion screws.
Tip: Use appropriate mounting screws for the wall stud material, supplied screws are for timber wall studs.

6. Connect the Vertical Grab Bar (with the red sticker) to the Connecting Elbow with the red sticker on one end. This is the correct connection.
If the Vertical Grab Bar to the Connecting Elbow on one end is an incorrect connection and should be avoided.
Note: When connect the Connecting Elbow to the Vertical Grab Bar and Horizontal Grab Bar, make sure to match the sticker colors correctly—red to
red, blue to blue.

7. Slide the support ring onto the horizontal grab bar, and then connect the horizontal grab bar with the connecting elbow.

8. Align the grab rail with the three brackets and screw it firmly using a Allen key.

9. Unscrew the Philip Screw of support ring, and screw the grub screw in the support ring to tighten the support ring, then screw the Philip Screw back to
the support ring.

10. Confirm that all connections are securely tightened.
